West Regent Lane facade
A six-storey office building in central Glasgow
The facades are traditionally built stone as a ‘shell’ enclosure addressing the main street elevations including the east elevation. Into this a glass ‘box’ is given the impression of having been inserted.
This ‘box’ appears above the line of the stone shell at the fifth floor as an attic level and the rear lane to the West Regent Lane elevation again between thick stone bookends. Apertures within the stone shell for window openings will have a thickness of reveal to maintain the illusion of an inner glass box.
The ground floor foyer space is accessed directly without the traditional short flight of steps from West Regent Street. Car parking to the basement is achieved through the use of mechanical stackers, accessed from West Regent Lane.
