Exterior of Thurrock Campus
New further education campus providing vocational training facilities in the South Essex area.
South Essex College's new 15,000sqm further education campus provides fantastic vocational training facilities in the South Essex area, and has dramatically improved the quality of the built environment and open spaces in Grays town centre.
The teaching accommodation is incorporated into two main buildings linked by a central landscaped area, with public footways running through the centre of the college to establish a link to the town centre.
Whilst different in overall scale and form, both buildings are designed with a common language of materials, proportion and detail, including the use of coloured reveals to feature entrances and windows. Rainwater harvesting and roof-level PV solar panels form part of the environmental design strategy.
