seedS from above
A mobile therapeutic unit bringing healthcare closer to prisoners with reducing costs to the prison and healthcare providers.
seedS were designed to speed up existing paths to much needed healthcare services in the UK prison estate. seedS plants healthcare directly on prison wings allowing a greater number of patients to be seen during the working day, at lower economic running costs to healthcare providers and the prison. seedS is modular and can be dismantled and deployed anywhere in the prison where need is greatest.
It breaks with the historical repetition of institutional design, made from eight modular GRP sections, it provides an appropriate space that is conducive to healing and plays a crucial role in addressing the escalating problems of mental health within our prisons.
seedS provides much needed private space for confidential 1:1s and small group guided sessions of up to 4 to 5 people. The first seedS was delivered to HMP Leeds August 2015 and is a gift from SAFE Innovations and the FREE Unit.
