A rethink of the typical suburban bungalow - reconfiguring and extending to create a family home
The average British suburban home comes in many shapes and sizes, this project offers a refreshing re-think of the humble British bungalow.
By adding a new L shaped extension to the existing home the ‘redundant’ space between the neighbouring property was utilised allowing space to be freed up within the existing layout. The cantilevered extension, clad in cedar, provides an elegant surprise to the rear of the property. Large sliding glass doors open up the corner to the garden completely, blurring the line between inside and outside. The crisp extension is distinct from the existing bungalow that also has been brightened up.
The whole family was involved in the design process and the addition of the bold pink front door came from the client’s 6 year old daughter.
