Two-storey extension to a brownstone townhouse topped with a roof terrace

The rear extension is conceived as a light airy space which creates a filter to the garden space beyond, adding more light and better views. It extends the library on the garden level, the living room on the parlor floor and creates a terrace for the master bedroom area above.

The folded glass and steel facade structure incorporates large pivoting doors opening up to extend the lower-level library into the garden, as an exterior living room.

Natural materials create a warm atmosphere for the interiors. A new, four storey high staircase was installed with a skylight above. At the entrance, a large set of sculpted wood sliding doors was inserted to connect the living room and hallway creating a flexible use of space.
