Refurbishment of a Victorian building in Maida Vale, reinstating the public bar at ground level, a ‘piano nobile’ dining room and further private dining rooms on the second level
Like a Victorian house, a series of more private dining rooms and a function room sit between and above these more public spaces.
Working with the existing building fabric whereever possible, while removing recent unsympathetic additions, the architect has attempted to reveal and celebrate the existing character of this Victorian public house.
While each room is unique, they relate to each other through a palette of light-touch additions that vary slightly from room to room; new timber linings, exposed plaster work and ceilings, light fittings & furniture and carefully chosen tones of wall paint.
