Reorganisation and extension of a 1960s estate house into a contemporary open plan family home
This detached house was constructed in 1965 at a time when the Georgian terraced building stock of Bath was out of favour. While offering a suburban lifestyle with a garden, off-street parking and within walking distance of the centre, the accommodation comprised numerous cellular rooms that were cramped and gloomy.
The recent works open up and extend the house both to the rear, affording visual and physical connections into the private garden from the principle living accommodation, and to the side to provide bike store, utility room and an additional bedroom. This, alongside various thermal improvements, has resulted in a reinvigorated family home full of daylight and flexible space.
