Two-storey house on a narrow street in the historic seaside town of Cadaqués in northern Catalonia
The house replaces a two-storey dwelling and a neighbouring structure in a state of ruin, on a small, narrow street in the historic seaside town of Cadaqués in northern Catalonia.
Inside the house is organized on three levels of about sixty m2 each with two mezzanines built of wood in the space below deck. The entrance hall, just below ground level, leads to a two-bedroom suite and contains an interior window that overlooks the double height basement space.
Up a winding stair is a central hall, the primary living area. Off this and a step down is another room, this one with a long table and kitchen counter. It leads to another room, an outdoor one, a patio open to the sky.
The house is shared by two families and bedrooms have no assigned owner.
Stone, Arabic tiles and structural elements have been recovered from the existing building to be used in new construction.
