The school is located in a conservation area in central Cambridge, formed by modern insertions linking two large Georgian buildings

This project refurbishes one of the historic buildings to establish a new Pre-Prep school for the co-education of 5-7yr olds.

This project reinstates the Brookside pupil entrance by forming a new glazed lobby inside the original held-open front door, allowing views in and increasing the school’s presence from the street. A new reception area is defined by bespoke furniture and hidden lighting.

Extensive structural work has opened up the lower ground floor to provide a new reception classroom and adjacent WCs/ cloakrooms. The learning space has been divided into a wet play area, gathering space and a reading ‘snug’. New glazed doors open the classroom onto a newly landscaped courtyard. A canopy, stage area, coloured mirrors, play paving, whiteboard and wormery provides a fun space for seamless inside/ outside teaching.
