Extension of an Edwardian family home in south east London

The extension of an existing Edwardian family home in Dulwich, South London. The brief was to enhance the living and eating areas of the house and provide an improved utility space. Both of the owners are keen cooks and therefore, the kitchen was of the highest importance.

The existing utility room was replaced with a new structure to the side, clad in fibre cement board. Internal decoration with red glass tiles and the inclusion of a bespoke folding butchers’ block work surface makes the space both functional and bright.

To the rear a new extension was built to form a dining area, lit from above with a large skylight. The extension is clad in Ipé and wide cedar boards, continuing on to the surrounding raised garden decking to create uniformity.
