Rear and side single story mid-terrace house extension
This is a mid-terrace, late Victorian house situated on the south-west side of the Road. The design opens up the kitchen to the garden and create
seamless transition through a rear extension that, with minimum impact, activates the use of the garden; bring natural daylight into the kitchen and providing views on to the garden, which then becomes a continuation of the domestic space.
The final design responded to the brief by extending the rear of the house through an extruded glassed volume in sympathy with the overall massing of the house. This extruded glass volume articulates several sub-spaces, such as a courtyard and a rear patio, that merge with the kitchen and becomes an integrated space of this all glass extension.
