Creation of a new two-storey extension to replace an unattractive lean-to glass conservatory on a character cottage style home
Archadia were commissioned by a private client in Surrey to create a new extension providing a new family room with a garden aspect and larger bathrooms and master bedroom on the first floor.
The new internal layout incorporates a double height space, creating a spacious, airy interior which has become a focal point for the house. The strip window across two sides of the extension at first floor level provides a panoramic view to the trees at the rear.
The original upvc fascias and soffits were replaced with aluminium to match the extension, and the roof form of the new extension echoes that of the original roof bringing the scale down to a single storey nearest to the patio. The new extension is contemporary in appearance whilst respecting the original character of the building.
