Conversion of two Victorian terrace houses in a conservation area into a double-width five bedroom home
The open plan ground floor space contains the house's living areas that are sub-divided by ‘floating boxes’, which contain the fireplace, storage, and kitchen units. Full height 'staggered' windows at the rear of the house provide these communal spaces with natural light and uninterrupted views of the east-facing garden.
Accessed by a 'feature' staircase that connects all four storeys, the first floor contains the master bedroom suite, which opens on to a rear terrace, with additional bedrooms on the second floor. The basement contains additional living spaces and utility areas.
A simple palette of traditional materials is used throughout the house, basalt and fumed oak timber on the floors, basalt showers, dark stained timber windows, dark bronze ironmongery and off white plastered walls throughout.
