Permanent home for the Kunsthalle Zürich contempory art organisation in the former Lowenbrau brewery

The architect has renovated the historical buildings, constructed a new west building and created an additional storey on top of the existing brick mega-structure, to significantly expand the institute's art spaces.

The rooms that have continuous concrete flooring, white walls and linear artificial lights will be used for the production and showcasing of contemporary art.

An additional entrance hall improves orientation and can be used for meetings and lectures. Outside, a covered courtyard is similarly flexible.

The former production hall of the old brewery has been restructured, with three large exhibition spaces located at the front and the public library, offices, conference rooms, workshops, archive and storage rooms arranged over two levels toward the back of the building.

A residential tower, which will help to secure the long-term viability of the art-focused development, is yet to complete.
