Academy with specialisms in civil engineering, social care and medical science for 1,200 pupils to the south of Wolverhampton
Four learning zones, each on a dedicated storey of the building, with a mix of cellular and specialist accommodation, are wrapped around several large open-planned areas.
On each level classes wrap around an open central area, with a series of voids opening up double and triple height top-lit spaces interspersed with centralised accommodation: lecture theatre, hall and café spaces.
Platforms at different levels provide views between the stories, while wide internal staircases that link the floors provide additional informal lecture areas.
The main entrance is at first floor level, working with the slope of the site, and provides views from the entrance foyer down into the double height engineering hall.
