Production workshop for set construction and fabrication for the Royal Opera House
The building, which accommodates a large paint-shop for vertical and horizontal scene-painting as well as carpentry and metal workshops, provides a focus at the heart of the production campus.
The vaulted form creates large internal spaces that allow the fully assembled scenery to be seen as it will on stage. These spaces are enclosed under a green sedum roof that incorporates continuous rooflights set between the deep primary structural truss members to provide even daylight with reduced glare.
