Modern villa on a leafy crescent in a conservation area near Edinburgh's city centre
Within an area of Victorian and Edwardian villas laid out in the early 1900s, the house sits on the site of a former playground attached to a private school that the same architects converted into three flats in 2009.
Built on a slope of nearly one storey, the north street-facing, facade contains deliberately framed windows in contrast to south side of the building which contains large areas of glazing facing onto a private garden to the rear. The extensive south facing glazing forms part of the environmental strategy and helps to differentiate the experience of the various rooms and spaces within.
Internally the accommodation is spread over three floors with service spaces a garage and swimming pool on the lower ground level, living spaces on the ground, garden level, and four bedrooms on the upper level.
