Refurbishment and extension of a Grade II listed farm with a loft conversion, barn conversion and the addition of a glazed pavilion
The pre-existing building structure consists of a main house and two out buildings and is part of a group of listed buildings, which also includes a tithe barn and a Grade I listed church.
In the house existing features were restored and bathrooms, doors and feature staircases were inserted. The loft space has been converted to provides an additional bedroom and bathroom.
To the west of the house, the open barn was converted to create an auxiliary bedroom suite with garden room overlooking the newly structured garden, along with a open-plan kitchen and informal living space.
This pavilion is housed under a partially sloped planted roof with a glazed front facade and clerestory window at the rear, to create a lightweight structural appearance. The rear window gives views to the churchyard retaining wall and all glazing was designed to be as frameless as possible to reinforce the open landscape nature of the project.
