Refurbishment of and extension to a Grade II listed cottage
The brief was to refurbish the property which was in a poor state of repair, and to replace a 1980s extension with additional floor area. An element of the project was the treatment of an existing gable wall, which a surveyor's report had indicated would need to be rebuilt.
By analysing the causes of the instability of the wall, which were traced back to decay in the original timber frame, it was possible to carry out repairs to enable the existing construction to be retained.
