Small studio for a ceramicist, located in a garden site outside Cambridge
Wingate is a small studio for a ceramicist, located in a garden site outside Cambridge. The clients brief was for a small studio, which would provide a light, workable and flexible building for use as a working pottery and art space. The timber frame building is clad in phenolic plywood. A twisting timber joisted roof tips up to welcome the visitor at one end, and let light in from the opposite side at the other. The high clerestory windows are made using translucent five wall insulated cladding, which diffuses the light and filters it evenly through the space.
