Rear single storey extension to dormer bungalow, large oak framed glazed apertures with random width vertical oak cladding
Mundo architecture was given a brief by client Ian & Sue Pearson to design a single storey extension to their home, and to redesign part of the existing ground floor. The new ensuite bedroom and kitchen, diner & living place were to have a ‘wow’ factor, while adhering to a modest budget.
The rear of the property faces North West towards open fields; one of the projects goals was to profit from the beautiful site by opening up the elevation with plentiful glazing and to capture light from the side elevations.
The project was completed in July 2011; it is situated in Peterston- Super- Ely, a suburb of Cardiff.
The new elevation uses oak and glass. The roof rises to an internal height of 3.6m which creates a sense of openness with an elevated view of the landscape. By increasing the floor area modestly the rooms have been transformed into a spacious living environment.
