A contemporary rear extension to a Victorian Villa

MWAI were appointed to design the refurbishment and rear extension of a Victorian Villa in Ealing, West London.

The design suspends disbelief by removing all internal structure in order for the existing rear extension to float above the new formed family living space & kitchen area. The space is flooded with natural light and establishes a direct relationship with the south facing garden.

The limestone tiles chosen for the interiors continue outside to form a new level outdoor terrace. The terrace is separated from the living space by a 20mm frame sliding window system; when open indoor and outdoor become one.

Modern detailing and a minimalist bespoke kitchen design make this a striking extension for a domestic private client.

Planning consent was obtained in February 2010 and the project was completed February 2011
