A former East-End, inter-war Factory has been extended to provide a retail warehouse for a bed design and manufacturing company.
11.04 Architects were commissioned by award winning furniture manufacturer, Warren Evans to create a "loft-style" extension to their existing retail warehouse adjacent London's Columbia Road Flower Market. The area is characterised by former East End inner city factories and warehouses which provide the inspiration for the design solution and the analogous "factory-gate" aesthetic. The area is often used for fashion shoots and tv commercials, and the architects wanted to capitalise on the televisual characteristics of the area. The interior retains elements of the original exterior facade to provide low-cost added drama and value.
