Refurbishment of a 21-storey office building consisting of two wings on either side of a road in the City of London
Along with an internal restoration and reorganisation the front facade was redesigned. The stepped glazed cascade that linked the two wings has been replaced with a double-height glazed podium section with glazed cladding above.
The structure and internal support framework of the new podium have been minimised, with the glass supported internally by simple stainless steel bowstring trusses.
The link between the two blocks contains a business lounge and café, and enables the building to be successfully multi-tenanted.
The restored building also accommodates two reception and lobby areas, a store for 220 bicycles with changing facilities on the first floor and many of the external terraces have also been given a new lease of life.
