Waterfront building for business, technology, media, art and design at the University of Wales
Located on the bank of River Usk the building accommodates teaching, research and exhibition spaces as well as a restaurant.
The five-storey building has a watertight external fabric and a roof made from approximately 4,000 square meters of cedar.
Located on the ground floor are the lecture, exhibition and performing art spaces. A tiered library and the restaurant sit on the second floor. The upper levels contain the studios and workshops.
Suspended from the centre facade of the building is a yellow timber-clad ‘hothouse’ and there is a glass atrium within.
The building’s environmental measures, including solar shading and natural ventilation, have attained an excellent BREEAM rating.
