Refurbishment of a semi-detached house in West Hampstead
This complete refurbishment of a semi-detached family house in north-west London involved opening up the existing ground floor and linking a new basement level space with open voids and staircases to create light and open-plan family living areas. The remaining two stories were fully refurbished and designed to maximise the use of existing spaces and introduce new, modern bathrooms.
Many existing and traditional details have been used in the new scheme to reflect the building's history. The gardens have been landscaped to compliment the rear facade.
The new full-height sliding doors to the rear elevation utilise a flush-glazed laminated timber window system with enhanced U-values, achieved by the integration of insulation and fibre-reinforced composites into the laminated timber construction.
