Public cinema in west London to seating up to 1,200 people
The Shepherd's Bush Pavilion was designed with a high classical Roman design in mind.
The exterior elevations are characterised by red bricks, which make up a stone design. The entrance is a square tower with bold cornices and a roman archway. Its base is made from girt stone. Columns support this arch and accenuate the entrance, as do the pedimented window openings on each side.
The entrance leads to a vesitbule, where a staircase offers variously levelled entrances into the main gallery. Its style is Augustan.
The main gallery can hold up to 1,200 persons. The plan is laid out as a central nave with flankings, in a Basilican style.
The interior is less restrained in its design. Lighting is provided by Classic lamps of a rose-coloured glow, set in plenum openings. The ceiling is arched with ornamental plasterwork defining its curvature. There is continuity in the decorative scheme, which is maintain in borderlines and blocks of pattern
