Renovation of a collection of Victorian stable buildings to provide living and leisure space
A long stable building has been converted to house a swimming pool and several white-rendered blocks were added to the building’s northern face to include a gym, games room and lounge space
The project also involved the conversion of a large building close to the main house into a dining pavilion, the gable-end of which incorporates a large window framing views across formal gardens. Further buildings have been renovated to include a guest house, children’s play areas, office, garage, utilities and plant.
The design intent was to maintain the agricultural character of the exterior with minimal additions in white render, and to make the interiors as serene as possible. This involved developing a library of simple oak joinery details to be used throughout with a palette of white render and grey-blue stonework.
