Grade II listed Van der Rohe inspired modern steel frame and glass secondary school
Winner of a design competition, the Smithsons took a Modernist approach to building this secondary school, constructed as part of the 1944 Education Act. A steel frame enabled the mass use of glazed facades.
The services are visible most notably the water tank which was held in a tower above the school’s main building.
