Courtyard with car turntable
David Churchill (website) Download Original
Mixed-use refurbishment of a Georgian townhouse, previously used as offices, and two industrial sheds to the rear, into a block of six residential flats alongside a train line
A mix of six residential units, from one-bed flats to luxurious three-bed courtyard lofts, along with two B1 work units have been created, showing how industrial units on tight, landlocked sites can be re-used.
The rear sheds have been cut in half to form a shared courtyard, with a ground floor industrial unit and first floor three bedroom apartment on each side.
High-specification fire ratings and acoustic performance fro
indows and the external envelope are achieved by using isolated internal wall linings, and in windows by using thermally-broken frames with secondary inner glazing and large interstitial void. Trains are therefore visible but not audible.
