DSDHA's Deborah Saunt describes the intended effect of the building as 'melting into the landscape'
Residential management training and conference centre in Cambridge
The Møller Centre was designed for Churchill College in Cambridge, the main features of the project are a 'Collaborative Learning Environment' and Music Recital Room.
The glazed exterior of the new building complements the adjacent buildings and reflects the exceptional landscaping of Churchill College, filtering views into the interior.
Its formal simplicity allows it to be read at a number of scales relative to the neighbouring listed buildings and landscape, with an appearance of lightness in relation to the existing building and to the ground.
Internally, timber linings soften the sharp geometry extending the materiality of the trees inside. Flexible facilities transform the building for multiple functions.
