Mobile theatre developed for the Horse + Bamboo Theatre to stage contemporary masked and puppet theatre

The mobile theatre was needed for the Horse + Bamboo theatre, a touring company travelling across the UK and Europe. The theatre was required so that the company could tour in villages and small towns and present small shows with audiences of up to 35 people.

A structure was created where the geometry comprises of six rectangular frames that are twisted around an imaginary axis, distorting the side walls into doubly curved planes without the use of curved membranes. The twisted frames are linked by a weather-resistant outer layer of translucent fabric, PVC-coated polyester sheeting, that follows the curved shapes.
