Conversion and refurbishment of Grade II listed former textile warehouse to provide creative design studios
The space had been damaged by fire in an adjacent building, which oddly enough had probably saved many of its original features from developer destruction. The building had consequently lain empty for some years and had caught the eye of ‘The Neighbourhood’ as a potential new location for their growing creative studio.
Refurbishment of the space included the removal of non-original partitions and stripping back the original floors. New insertions were clearly defined; with a suite of meeting rooms inserted and a bespoke zinc clad kitchen installed relating to the pattern of the original t&g cladding, evoking memories of packing cases and the buildings previous use as a textile warehouse
IT servicing is critical to the Neighbourhood’s business operation, and a bespoke system was developed from standardised ducting components to distribute the power and data cabling, which reduced costs, and simplified construction without sacraficing aesthetics.
