Garage extension in the garden of a Grade I listed house to include a studio, spare bedroom and space for a grand piano
This extension to an existing garage with studio above nestles behind the 17th century garden wall. The brief called for a studio, spare bedroom and space for a grand piano for the client, an elderly artist and wallpaper designer.
The existing studio has been converted into two bedrooms with a large landing for the piano. The new two storey extension consists of a shower room, utility room and stairs linking the single storey element creating a small private entrance yard. Leading off this small yard, the single storey element hugs the garden wall and with no windows to the north the hall and kitchen beyond are top lit.
The kitchen opens out to the south facing main living area and studio space with garden beyond. Large sliding doors can separate the studio and the main living area.
