Refurbishment and twin-storey glass-clad extension to the existing library building Imperial at Imperial College, London
This project brief was to extensively refurbish level one of the Central Library and include the construction of a service tower which houses air handling plant for that level. The extension into the external walkway adjacent to the Queens Lawn, is an integral feature of the project which at ground floor level incorporates a new main entrance, a learning café and a canopy that extends to the existing Sherfield entrance.
New chillers were also installed on the roof to serve the Library and levels three and four of the Sherfield Building. Materials and construction include a roof with two Rockwell layers inside steel profiles, cladding in Schuco, and raised flooring by Durabella.
